Grace Slick and the Secret Inside White Rabbit Grace Slick was born on October 30, 1939. Before joining Jefferson Airplane, she had already written “White Rabbit” and later brought the song into the band. In a Library of Congress interview, Slick described it as a Spanish march inspired by Miles Davis and Gil Evans’ “Sketches of Spain.” You can also hear the idea behind Ravel’s “Boléro”: one pulse repeating, the arrangement steadily intensifying and a voice climbing toward a sudden stop. In less than three minutes, the song creates an entire world without relying on a conventional chorus. Which song turns simple repetition into tension you cannot escape? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKZVUtvjBdM
